Hi! I am Kayo Kimizono currently a  third year on the team studying in the Faculty of Economics, PEARL. 

In the midst of the typhoon season, our Autumn league has officially started today and I would like to take this opportunity to present a great news… we won our first game!!!! 

秋季リーグ戦第一日: 25日 vs 茨城大学　2-0 

I could go on forever talking about how our whole team is so thrilled about this win because it means so much to us. It is the first win of this season and the first win for our team this year. Before the match started, I could feel how tense everyone was because of the pressure. But as a team, we stuck together, supported one another and all contributed to building up a strong team spirit. 

Putting my excited emotions to the side, something off-topic that I wanted to also talk about today is the recent typhoon that has been going on. This is my first time experiencing typhoon season in Japan.

Back in high school, I would pray that typhoon season would come so our classes would get canceled. However, this time, I realized how big of an impact these natural disasters have on our daily lives. For example, last Saturday due to the heavy rain, the floor became too slippery for us to train. We had to make adjustments to our menu because jumping on a slippery floor can cause bad injuries. All the bicycles parked near the station got blown down and the road was puddled with rainwater mixed with mud. Trains are delayed and my laundry never dries. 

Maybe a part of growing up is realizing how typhoons affect our life and forces us to change our plans. We really can’t do anything about it but to just go with the flow and solve one problem at a time that life brings us. There will always be a solution, and that goes for volleyball too.

Apologies for the non-volleyball-related topic and going back to our game today,  there can’t be a better way for us to start this season with the win today. We will take this win as a sign of good fortune for the rest of this season. Our whole team will continue pushing hard every training so we would like to ask for your constant support!!
